Iraqi Kevlar Helmets

RARITY - 10 / 10

TYPE 1

Little is definitively known about the type 1 Iraqi kevlar helmet. However, we can infer some details compared to other Iraqi helmets, period photos and documenting their capture history from allied forces. To begin, these helmets were made in South Korea by H.H.D (H.H. Didizian), a manufacturer that supplied the Iraqi military with their Model 1980 (M80). The helmets were copied after the US PASGT helmet in shape, but lack the kevlar characteristics seen with the PASGT helmet. Instead we see a similar construction to that of the Iraqi M80 helmets.

It is believed that these helmets were sourced sometime around the Iran - Iraq war, however likely only saw limited service after the war with special forces units. All known examples with provenance have come back from Desert Storm and not Operation Iraqi Freedom.

This variant can be denoted by a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware.

TYPE 2

The type 2 Iraqi kevlar, while similar to Type 1 in shape, is very different in construction and and finish. The type 2 can be denoted by a lightweight plaster (Believed to be gypsum), and a knockdown finish. The type 2 is believed to have been produced after the gulf war and may have seen use up until operation Iraqi freedom. This variant, is not made with kevlar, but is made to imitate similar kevlar style helmets.
