TYPE 2

The type 2 Iraqi M80 is a much less common variant of the M80 found. The most notable difference of the type 2 is its sizing. This variant is smaller in height, width, and length. Although the materials used to manufacture the helmet shell are similar by comparison to the type 1, the type 2 variant was made by the Farhat Trading Company in Jordan. With this, sizing is needed to identify this variant as the helmet shares a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware. Though, I have found at least 2 type 2 M80’s with a dark khaki colored webbing (As seen below). Given this, it is possible the type 2 M80 was also issued with these fixtures.

Height: 6.5 inches

Width: 9 inches

Length: 10.5 inches

The type 3 Iraqi M80 is very similar in style and shape compared to the type 1. This variant was produced in South Korea (Made by H.H.D (H.H. Didizian)) and made for the Iraqi military. This variant can be denoted by a light green helmet shell, and a manufacturer tag from H.H. Didizian. Besides these features, this variant, like type 1, has a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware.

TYPE 4

RARITY - 6 / 10

The type 4 Iraqi M80 is very similar in style and shape compared to the type 1, and type 3. This variant was produced in South Korea (Made by H.H.D (H.H. Didizian)) and made for the Iraqi military. This variant can be denoted by a lighter green helmet shell compared to the type 1, but darker helmet shell compared to the type 3. The type 4 lacks (Or have not yet been found with) a manufacturer tag from H.H. Didizian, but does feature a manufacturer stamp on the sweatband. Besides these features, this variant, like type 1, has a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware.

TYPE 5

The type 5 Iraqi M80 is very similar in style and shape compared to the type 1, type 3 and type 4. This variant was produced in South Korea (Made by H.H.D (H.H. Didizian)) and made for the Iraqi military. This variant can be denoted by a brown, undied helmet shell. The type 5, similar to the type 3 can be found with either a manufacturer tag on the dome or a manufacturer stamp on the sweatband from H.H. Didizian. Besides these features, this variant, like type 1, has a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware.

Interestingly, the type 5 can also be denoted by a thinner brimmed shell compared to the type 1. Because of this, the surviving examples I have found all share similar characteristics of damage around the brim.

TYPE 6

The type 6 Iraqi M80 is very similar in style and shape compared to the type 1, type 3, type 4 and type 5. This variant was produced in South Korea (Made by H.H.D (H.H. Didizian)) and made for the Iraqi military. This variant can be denoted by a green died helmet shell. The type 6, similar to the type 3, lacks (Or have not yet been found with) a manufacturer tag from H.H. Didizian, but does feature a similar manufacturer stamp on the inside brim. Besides these features, this variant, like type 1, has a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware. Unlike the type 1, the type 6 features a large chinstrap configuration that is unique to this variant.

Interestingly, the type 6 has at least two different types that can be found. Type 6-A, and Type 6-B. Type 6-A can be denoted by a lighter green shell, an interlacing hashed polymer construction and a more pronounced manufacture stamp. While the Type 6-B has a darker green shell, a vertical striped polymer construction and a less pronounced manufacture stamp.

TYPE 7

RARITY - 9 / 10

The type 7 Iraqi M80 is the most different of all M80 variants. Although unconfirmed, the appearance of the type 7 is the most similar to the US M1 helmet liner. With this, it is my belief that the type 7 is actually the first iteration of the M80 made by H.H. Didizian. Although until this can be confirmed, the order of the H.H.D variants will remain the same. This variant was produced in South Korea (Made by H.H.D (H.H. Didizian)) and made for the Iraqi military. This variant can be denoted by several featured. The most notable being the shells thickness. Unlike the type 1, the type 7 is very thin. The type 7 also features less pronounced rivets holding the liner webbing and chinstrap to the shell. The helmet, like the type 5 shares a brown shell and lacks (Or have not yet been found with) a manufacturer tag from H.H. Didizian, but does feature a manufacturer stamp on the sweatband. Besides these features, this variant, like type 1, has a dull olive green finish, green liner webbing, green chinstrap webbing, and black hardware.
