Iraqi Steel Helmets

TYPE 1

The type 1 Iraqi steel helmet is a Chinese made M1 helmet clone made by the company “Aeromaritime Made in Hong Kong”. This M1 clone is believed to have seen limited use during the first gulf war. Using US M1 terms, it is a rear seam swivel bale helmet. It features an olive green sand textured finish, a pre PASGT era green chinstrap.

Like the shell, the type 1 Iraqi plastic helmet liner is a Chinese M1 helmet liner clone made by the company “Aeromaritime Made in Hong Kong”. It features an olive green textured finish and a green canvas liner webbing.

TYPE 2

The Kuwaiti plastic helmet liner is a Chinese M1 helmet liner clone made by the company “FADI Made in Hong Kong”. It features an olive green textured finish and a green canvas liner webbing.

Interestingly, the Iraqi military captured a limited number of these during their invasion of Kuwait - and subsequently used them after the invasion.

TYPE 3

The type 3 Iraqi plastic helmet liner is another Chinese M1 helmet liner clone. We have not yet identified if this variant was produced by Aeromaritime, Fadi or another manufacture. This variant features an tan textured finish and a tan canvas liner webbing.
